Expository Essay: Why AIDS is Important
Hi, my name is Jake Stann, i’m 10 years old, and
i’m a fourth grader at Gaëtan Dugas Elementary;
it’s been a minute since we talked about AIDS,
but last time i checked, AIDS did not go away;
People with AIDS live around us normal people every day,
so i thought that i’d write down some important things about AIDS;
My mom told me that people with AIDS are made of Marshmallows and Rice,
My dad told me that AIDS is a bio weapon created by the united states government
My friends at school say AIDS is a disease that got beat out by cancer and grunge music
AIDS affects a lot of people (i’m not a numbers guy but, you can take my word for it, because i
don’t have AIDS, so you know i’m neutral on the subject)
You cannot get AIDS when the wind blows
You cannot get AIDS from a simple touch
You cannot get AIDS from watching a movie where the main actor has AIDS
But if you exchange a part of yourself to another person (sexually), then you might get AIDS
AIDS is like the final form of HIV, which is the virus that you get first; i like to think of HIV as a Pokémon in the first stage of its evolution, and when it decides to evolve after months of battling, then the HIV Pokémon evolves into the AIDS Pokémon;
But that doesn’t mean that AIDS is entirely bad, that’s the point!
If i had a girlfriend that had AIDS, then I would get AIDS
If God had AIDS, then I would have AIDS
If my cat had AIDS, then i would give myself cat AIDS
Some of my favorite people in the whole world have AIDS, like my cousin Freddie, well, he had AIDs, then he died, that was a few years ago, but I got his Xbox when he passed away, which was pretty cool;
AIDS is here, but we can contain the harmful effects and the nasty stereotypes about people who suffer from the disease;
My mom said that most celebrities and people who practice witchcraft, like Magic Johnson and Harry Potter, all have the HIV virus because they were defying god’s laws and natural order in the world, same thing with the homosexuals and fans of soccer, and thus they were all, for the most part, quote unquote unwashed drug addict rejects who were all staining the pure and perfect earth of Almighty God, and all of this is why their bodies were trying to kill them; but, something told me that my mom was watching too much Nancy Grace again, so after some YouTube videos at home after researching Pokémon, I learned some truths about the virus that is the human immunodeficiency virus and then i learned about acquired immunodeficiency syndrome and it turns out that AIDS is like… this slow painful process that makes a person’s protective cells not work right, they don’t do their jobs, they can’t protect that person from germs and infections, and that just makes me sad, because a persons’ offense is only as strong as their defense, that’s something my PE coach used to tell me, he was in the war in Africa or something and he told me about the AIDS disease there and how the human population will never be ready to hear the truth about AIDS, then he went on about people being ripped through by cleavers in the jungle, the human purpose in times of bloodshed, and what is a cell when it doesn’t do its job, but know now that i think the world is ready to hear a different truth about AIDS, that AIDS is here, in America and Africa, and AIDS is not the end, because it is a beautiful beginning, and people with AIDS (whether they’re from Africa or America) matter;
In Conclusion: my brother from college told me that HIV/AIDS came from monkeys, and this confused me, because how did humans get the virus, like did we buy AIDS from monkeys or something, like did we invade Africa and trade crops for AIDS, oh God, did we trade AIDS for Slaves… oh Jesus, that explains it right there, wow, we really fucking traded slaves for AIDS but like who bought the AIDS ya know also where the fuck did we get the AIDS from, hmmmmm – I don’t really know but what I do know is that when a person first gets diagnosed with having HIV, we should love them and treat them with kindness and make sure they get better by not letting them be around monkeys or rare candy or have access to used needles filled with some of the finest crank you’ve ever put in your body, because people with HIV/AIDS are some of the strongest, most magical people that i know, and that’s all i gotta say about that;
The end
