death cult
With this piece I aimed to capture a cathartic horror popping up in corners of the Internet as well as touch on a certain quiet feeling that things, difficult as they are, shouldn’t be heading “back to normal”. It’s the jouissance of the moment, the disturbed fascination as one continuously absorbs new updates and case counts. A new outbreak in China, a progressively deeper collective sense of impatience, an increasingly firm sense that the loudest participants in the public forum are just trying to convince themselves. The structure of the piece mirrors perilous curves; it drifts between disquiet/fear as well as the transcendent strangeness with which one’s mind may be warped in a demonic search for enlightenment.
